Vintage Resale Platform Comparator
The 6 major resale marketplaces — eBay, Etsy, Poshmark, Depop, Mercari, Vinted — charge wildly different fees. On a $50 sale, the difference between best and worst is often $10+. This tool sorts them by net payout for the sale you've configured.
Enter your item price, shipping charged, and optional cost basis. The comparator computes selling fees, payment processing, and net payout per platform — and (with cost basis) true profit. Built for vintage resellers picking the right platform per item, not for craft sellers picking a forever channel.
Educational tool only. Each marketplace publishes its own fee schedule; rates change. Verify against the source links below before relying on output for a high-stakes decision.

| Platform | Selling fee | Processing | Total fees | Net to you | Effective % |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Vinted Best Casual closet clean-outs, vintage clothing, lower-priced items where buyers absorb fees. | $0.00 | $0.00 | $0.00 | $53.00 | 0% |
Depop Y2K, streetwear, vintage tees, younger Gen-Z buyers; 0% seller fee in US/UK as of 2024. | $0.00 | $2.20 | $2.20 | $50.80 | 4.1% |
Etsy Curated vintage, hand-styled lots, items that fit Etsy's 20-years-or-older policy. | $5.49 | $0.00 | $5.49 | $47.52 | 10.3% |
Mercari High-volume reselling, electronics, miscellaneous household items, fast no-fuss listings. | $4.50 | $2.04 | $6.54 | $46.46 | 12.3% |
eBay Collectibles, electronics, niche vintage with established demand and willing-to-search buyers. | $7.42 | $0.00 | $7.42 | $45.58 | 14% |
Poshmark Modern reselling, designer + brand-name clothing, fast in-app social engagement. | $9.00 | $0.00 | $9.00 | $44.00 | 17% |
True profit after costs
Net payout minus your item cost and shipping label. Negative numbers mean you'd lose money on this sale.
Vinted's "no seller fee" model passes a 3–8% Buyer Protection fee to the buyer, not the seller — so the seller gets the listed price minus minimal payment-processing. That's why Vinted often tops the chart at lower price points.
2026 vintage resale platform fees, at a glance
eBay — 13.25% + $0.40 per order
Final value fee on most categories applies to item + shipping. There's also an optional Promoted Listings ad fee (typically 2–5%) that varies by category. eBay processes payments directly through Managed Payments — no separate Stripe / PayPal cut.
Etsy — ~9.5% + $0.45 (all-in)
6.5% transaction fee + 3% + $0.25 US payment processing + $0.20 listing fee. Etsy permits vintage items 20+ years old, supplies for handmade, and original handmade items only. The 9.5% blended rate excludes Offsite Ads (12–15% on attributed orders).
Poshmark — flat $2.95 under $15, 20% over $15
Poshmark's commission is 20% on sales of $15+, and a flat $2.95 on smaller sales. Buyer pays shipping (a flat-rate label). Highest commission of any major reseller — Poshmark justifies it with built-in social selling and a prepaid shipping label.
Depop — 0% selling fee + 3.3% + $0.45 processing
As of 2024, Depop dropped its 10% selling fee for US and UK sellers — only the standard PayPal/Stripe-style payment processing applies. Depop's audience skews younger and toward Y2K, vintage tees, and streetwear.
Mercari — 10% selling fee + 2.9% + $0.50 processing
Mercari charges 10% on the sold price plus payment processing. Sellers can ship with their own label or use Mercari's pre-paid label discount. Categories span everything (electronics, clothing, household, collectibles).
Vinted — 0% selling fee (buyer pays Buyer Protection)
Vinted charges no seller fee. The buyer pays a "Buyer Protection" fee of 3–8% + $0.70–$0.80 on top of the listed price, which doesn't come out of the seller's pocket. This is why Vinted tops the chart at lower price points.
Frequently asked questions
Which platform has the lowest fees for resellers?
Depop and Vinted are the lowest-fee platforms. Depop charges no selling fee (just 3.3% + $0.45 payment processing) in the US and UK as of 2024. Vinted charges no seller fee at all — the buyer pays a Buyer Protection fee. Beyond fees, conversion rate and audience fit matter: an item that sells fast on Poshmark at 20% fees can be a better outcome than one that sits on Vinted at 0% fees.
Is Poshmark's 20% fee too high?
Poshmark's 20% is the highest of any major resale marketplace, but built-in social selling and a prepaid shipping label add value. For higher-priced designer / brand-name items where conversion is strong, the 20% fee can be defensible. For lower-priced items where margin is already thin, it's brutal — that's why Poshmark uses a flat $2.95 below $15 instead of percentage.
Where should I list designer vintage?
For verified luxury (Chanel, Hermès, Louis Vuitton), The RealReal or Vestiaire Collective handle authentication. For brand-name designer at higher price points, Poshmark and Depop attract buyers willing to pay. For mid-tier and vintage department-store brands, eBay's search-driven traffic and Etsy's vintage category often outperform Poshmark on conversion.
What's the best platform for Y2K / streetwear vintage?
Depop owns the Y2K / streetwear / vintage tee market — Gen Z audience, social-discovery feed, low fees. Poshmark and Mercari also work but skew older. eBay works for collectible / labeled streetwear (e.g., Supreme drops with auction-style listings).
Do platform fees apply to shipping charged to the buyer?
eBay and Etsy: yes — the % fee applies to (item + shipping). Poshmark, Depop, Mercari, Vinted: no — the % applies to the item only. This is why eBay's effective fee rate is higher than its 13.25% headline when shipping is involved.
How often do these fees change?
Every 1–3 years on average. eBay raised final value fees in 2022 and again in 2024. Depop dropped its 10% selling fee in 2023–2024 (US) and 2024 (UK). Poshmark added the $2.95 flat under-$15 fee in 2019. Always verify against each platform's published fee schedule before relying on this tool for a high-stakes decision.
Track every sale across every platform
The comparator runs the math on one sale. Ardent Seller tracks every real sale across Etsy and other channels, attributes platform-specific fees against the right SKU, and produces per-SKU + per-channel profit reports so the products and platforms making real money sort themselves to the top.
