Etsy Fee Calculator 2026

Etsy charges five fees per sale — listing, transaction, payment processing, Offsite Ads (if applicable), and country-specific regulatory operating fees. Enter your sale and see all five broken out, plus your true net profit after COGS and ad spend.

It's easy to underestimate Etsy's total bite if you only count the headline 6.5% transaction fee. The actual blended rate on a typical US sale is closer to 11% before Offsite Ads, and over 20% once Offsite Ads attribute the sale — see the worked math in the Education section below.

Educational tool only — not tax, financial, or legal advice. Etsy fee schedules change frequently — most recently June 22, 2026 — and vary by country, plan, and listing type. Always confirm against Etsy's published policy at etsy.com/legal/fees before relying on the calculation for a high-stakes decision.

The five fees Etsy charges in 2026

Etsy charges a stack of fees on every sale. Most sellers know about two or three of them and anchor on the headline 6.5% transaction fee, which leaves the other four uncounted. Here's the full picture for 2026.

1. Listing fee — $0.20

Charged when you list a new item, when an existing listing is renewed (every 4 months), and when a sold listing auto-renews. Multi-quantity listings re-list $0.20 each time a unit sells, so a 10-unit batch listing that sells out has been billed $2.00 in listing fees.

2. Transaction fee — 6.5%

Charged on the full amount the buyer pays — item price + shipping + gift wrap + personalization. The same percentage worldwide. The shipping piece catches sellers off guard: a $20 item with $5 shipping pays 6.5% × $25 = $1.63 in transaction fees, not the $1.30 they'd expect by applying the rate to item price alone.

3. Payment processing — varies by country

Etsy uses different processing rates by country. US sellers pay 3% + $0.25. UK sellers pay 4% + £0.20 (and Etsy adds 20% VAT to all service fees on top). Canadian sellers pay 3% + C$0.25. Most EU sellers (Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Ireland) pay 4% + €0.30. Australian sellers pay 3.5% + A$0.25 plus 10% GST on Etsy's service fees.

4. Offsite Ads — 12% or 15%, capped at $100/order

Etsy advertises listings on Google, Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest. If a buyer arrives through one of those ads and buys within 30 days, Etsy charges 12% (for shops over $10K in trailing 12-month sales — mandatory) or 15% (for shops under $10K — opt-in). The fee is capped at $100 per order, which protects high-ticket sellers. Most US shops blend at an 11–14% effective rate across all orders because not every sale is attributed.

5. Regulatory operating fee — 0% to ~1.15%, by country

In countries with digital services taxes (UK, France, Italy, Spain, Canada, India, Turkey, Vietnam), Etsy passes through a small regulatory operating fee. Canada is the highest at 1.15%; France increased to 1.14% in June 2026; UK is 0.48%. The US, Germany, and Australia have no current regulatory operating fee.

What "blended fee rate" actually looks like

A typical US Etsy shop with a $25 average order value, half of orders coming through Offsite Ads (at 12% — assumes >$10K trailing), and the other half organic, blends out to roughly:

  • Organic orders: $25 × 6.5% transaction + $25 × 3% + $0.25 processing + $0.20 listing = ~$2.83 (about 11.3% effective).
  • Offsite-attributed orders: Same fees as above + 12% × $25 Offsite Ads = $2.83 + $3.00 = $5.83 (about 23.3% effective).
  • Blended at 50/50: ($2.83 + $5.83) / 2 = $4.33 per order, or 17.3% of revenue.

That 17.3% blended rate is what almost every Etsy seller is paying who doesn't actively pay attention. Compare to Shopify + Stripe at about 3% all-in, or your own site with Stripe at 2.9% + $0.30, and the rationale for an own-store strategy (alongside Etsy, not instead of) gets very real for high-volume shops.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Etsy take per sale in 2026?

Etsy charges a $0.20 listing fee, 6.5% transaction fee on (item + shipping + gift wrap), payment processing that varies by country (US: 3% + $0.25; UK: 4% + £0.20; EU: 4% + €0.30), Offsite Ads at 12% or 15% on attributed orders (capped at $100/order), and a regulatory operating fee in some countries (Canada 1.15%, France 1.14%, UK 0.48%). The blended effective rate for US sellers typically runs 11–14% without Offsite Ads and 17–25% with.

What is the Etsy transaction fee in 2026?

The Etsy transaction fee is 6.5% in 2026, charged on the total amount the buyer pays (item price + shipping + gift wrap + personalization). The same rate applies worldwide. A common mistake: applying the 6.5% only to the item price instead of the full buyer total — on a $20 item with $5 shipping, that misses $0.33 of fees.

Are Offsite Ads mandatory on Etsy?

Offsite Ads are mandatory for shops that have made more than $10,000 in trailing 12-month gross sales — those shops pay 12% on attributed orders. Shops under $10,000 can opt in (at the higher 15% rate) or opt out entirely. The fee is capped at $100 per order. Whether to opt in below $10K depends on whether the incremental traffic pays back the 15%; for most under-$10K shops, organic Etsy traffic is enough.

What is Etsy's regulatory operating fee?

In countries with digital services taxes (UK, France, Italy, Spain, Canada, India, Turkey, Vietnam), Etsy charges a regulatory operating fee — a percentage of (item + shipping + gift wrap) to comply with local tax laws. Effective June 22, 2026, several rates increased: France to 1.14% (from 0.47%), UK to 0.48% (from 0.32%), Italy to 0.80%, Spain to 0.88%. The US, Germany, Australia, and Ireland have no current regulatory operating fee.

Why does my Etsy net deposit look smaller than I expected?

Sellers typically underestimate fees by 30–40% because they think of "Etsy's 6.5%" and forget the rest. Payment processing (3% + $0.25 in the US) adds about 3.5–4% on a typical order. The $0.20 listing fee adds another 1% on a $20 order. Offsite Ads — if attributed — adds 12% or 15%. Stack them and the blended rate climbs to 11–14% (no Offsite Ads) or 17–25% (with). The calculator above breaks every fee out line by line so the math is transparent.

How do I calculate my true profit on an Etsy sale?

True profit per sale = Net deposit from Etsy minus your material cost minus your labor cost minus your shipping label cost minus any Promoted Listings or external ad spend attributed to this sale. The calculator above does this when you open the True Profit section and enter COGS and ad spend. Net deposit alone is not profit — it has not yet absorbed the cost of making the thing or shipping it.

Run this for every Etsy sale, automatically

A calculator runs the math on one sale. Ardent Seller pulls every Etsy order into one ledger, attributes the listing/transaction/processing/Offsite-Ads/regulatory fees against the right SKU, and produces a per-listing profit report so the products that are secretly losing money to Offsite Ads sort themselves to the top.
